Modern Jazz Brushes includes a proprietary technology called "RealSweep" that makes it possible to control the motion of brushes, which is important because (a) this is one of the primary characteristics of playing drums with brushes and (b) there are so many variations that it is not practical to attempt to make a sample for each specific variation. The definitive brush collection probably is Modern Jazz Brushes for Addictive Drums (XLN Audio), which I suggest because I have some of the Addictive Drums products, and they are excellent. VA Drums Collection: SC Brush Kit (SonicCouture) I did a YouTube music video of a bit of Jazz done with this set of samples ( see below), and the steel brushes on the snare drum sound realistic, which works for me. If you have Kontakt 5 (Native Instruments), there is a FREE sampled sound library of a drumkit played with steel brushes available from SonicCouture that sounds intriguing. is there a way to use samples from outside Notion? Michaeljames3 wroteI'm transcribing a jazz piece that uses the sound of brushes instead of sticks on the snare drum.
